Company History:

Western Agency, Inc. was started on December 15, 1976 by Chuck Tompkins.  Before that, Chuck had been a captive agent with Nodak Mutual and Farm Bureau of North Dakota for three years.  Because of his background as a farm kid and having worked for Farm Bureau for several years, Western Agency, Inc., from its very inception has been an independent insurance agency specializing in the farm and small town insurance market.  Due to the fact that not many other agents care to come into this complicated niche market, we have seen steady solid growth throughout our history.  We are at this time writing over 721 farm accounts, which we believe is more than any other individual agency in the state of North Dakota.

Mission Statement:

Western Agency, Inc. has never intended and never intends to be all things to all people.  What we do intend to be is one of the largest, best-managed, independent agencies in the state.  We want to be an agency that has a reputation for making money for its companies as well as itself, and who takes unbelievably good care of its clients.  We do intend to continue specializing in farm, crop, and commercial lines.  Our background and culture as an agency is that we want to be involved in lines where the coverage is complicated; where we can be experts; and where we can make a difference.  We do intend to be and will work towards being a Grade One agent with every company we represent.  We do intend to continue maintaining satellite offices in the small towns and we want to continue to centralize our processing for greater efficiency by hooking these offices to our central location by networking our automation.  We expect more steady growth and continue broader expansion into the markets we are pursuing. 

Western Agency, Inc. has now been in business for 30 years and we feel we have just gotten started.  We have had several mottos over the years.  One was "We are the farm and small town insurance experts".  Our current motto is "Our business is to protect your assets".  However, our original motto still sums up how I feel about providing the best service available anywhere, at any cost, anytime; it is: "25 hours per day insurance service".
